FCR's ordered!
Well I thought I'm going to get them so I might as well get them now the price has stayed the same for years. Got a little discount but I've ordered my 41mm FCR's...
PROJECTION component bits arrived
Here are some lovely bits from Projection components, They've fitted my stem to the R1 bottom yoke, along with some suspension stays slightly shorter than standard to raise the rear a tad and best of all the lovely big bore pipes, nice welding, can't wait to fit it all toghether when the engines in.
Just lightly bolted it togther, the vfr nitron shock fits through the yzf swing arm but only just, may have to tinker with this. Now I can get on and build the rear bit, hopefully re-using the seat unit from the vfr racer. At the mo the rear wheel is the original trx Im just using it to get the height for the seat, need to swap a tyre over onto the yzf wheel rim( however its pink so Ill have to spray it black)...time is running out but i can only do a little at a time.

rear frame bit
Managed to get into the shed to do a little tinkering. My yokes were half done by a local shop, they popped the try stem out of its yoke and also popped the R1 stem out for £10 which wasn't too bad but it took them a few months to get it done which set me back. I've now sent them off to Projection components uk...great company to machine up bits. The TRX stem is .35mm in Diameter smaller than than the R1 so they will weld up and turn down the correct size and push it into the R1 yoke. They will also create the spacers and 'top hat 'insert for the top yoke so it all fits perfect. They also do a 2 into 1 flu bore race pipe which is tempting!

saving weight is a must...rear subframe
sunday...engine out....still got to sort the exhaust out.still stuck solid, may destroy them in the process of getting them away from the cylinder head...a real pain in the back side I hate corrosion......thats why one should always keep a bike covered or clean or garaged......
will probably go for a 2 into 1 from projection components.co.uk...nice 50mm diam pipes.
Stripping down
Im pulling the bike apart, tried out the yzf750 swingarm just to see what it looks like. Will check later for sprocket alignments. notice how im hanging the bike up. I found a problem the exhaust down pipes are stuck solid...the age old problem with when steal meets aluminum..it corrode welded together. Looking around the bike it has been kept clean in the obvious places but its where the hidden bits get left and forgotten about and if not touched will just rot. The bike has that all over. Its had several owners and I think the last owner must have had it left outside and not undercover..
how to fit a vfr750fl race shock in a trx
The vfr750f-l shock is the same length as a trx....which is very conveniant!...I spent 2 years creating my vfr racer and along the way used all sorts of bits lying around the shed. A lot of Honda parts are used in other hondas,I also want to use new parts like my nice expensive race shock from the retired vfr into the trx...saving some money...so.. I found a cbr600fh rear suspension linkage in the bottom of the picture( I bet other honda bushes are the same dimensions). The steal tube bearing bush has the same outside diametre as the trx version but a smaller inner dia... But to fit the vfr750 race shock in the trx rear suspension arm one needs to take the cbr bearing bush and put it into the trx equivalent place, This allows the bottom of the vfr shock bolt to go through and lining up correctly. If thats not clear look in the picture.trx bush and bolt above the vfr bush and bolt.
